Vegan diet vs. the meat-based one: the experiment of twins. “I felt like I had more energy” – VIDEO

With so many diet ideas floating around social media promising amazing results, twins Hugo and Ross Turner decided to put two of them to the test: one vegan and one meat-based, according to Unilad.

In a 12-week experiment with Kings College London, Hugo Turner followed a vegan diet, while Ross followed a diet containing meat, dairy and fish. They wanted to do this experiment to see what changes take place in their body.

Both consumed the same number of calories daily and did the same workouts to ensure that only their diet would have some impact.

“I think the first couple of weeks it was really craving and wanting meat and dairy and cheese. I love cheese,” Hugo Turner told the BBC.

By giving up animal products, he saw a lot of benefits: “I was now having to eat fruit and nuts and alternatives that didn’t have any dairy in, what meant I was eating a lot more wholesome food, which meant that my sugar levels were a lot more even and I felt like I had more energy.”

Meanwhile, meat-eater Ross Turner said that while some days he felt “very energetic”, others he experienced “moments of weakness”.

However, Hugo Turner noticed some downsides to the vegan diet, as he found that the diversity of his gut bacteria dropped “very much”, while his brother’s remained the same, meaning Ross Turner was less likely to he got sick.

Overall, the men found there was “not a huge difference, if any” between the two diets, although Hugo Turner noted that cholesterol levels dropped “very much”, while shedding nearly two kilograms.

The diet made Ross Turner realize how much processed food he was eating after seeing his brother’s vegan dishes.

The vegan diet has also been shown to be more effective for fat loss. In contrast, Ross Turner’s body fat percentage increased from 13 to 15.
