This will be the hardest thing you will ever have to do, but it is also the most important: stop giving your love to people who are not ready to love you.
Stop having painful conversations with people who don’t want to change. Stop helping people who don’t need your help. Stop prioritizing people who treat you as an option, and nothing else. Stop loving people who aren’t ready to love you.
I know your instinct is to do whatever you can to help those you care about, but this is also the impulse that will rob you of your time, energy, and health.
When you start putting yourself first day by day, moment by moment, with joy, interest, and commitment, you need to know that not all people will be ready to accept this change in you.
This doesn’t mean that you have to change who you are… it means that you have to stop loving people who aren’t ready to love you.
If you are left out, if you are not put first, if you are ignored, if you are only called when you are needed by the people you care about the most, you are hurting yourself by continuing to give them energy and time out of your life.
The truth is that you are not for everyone and not everyone is for you. That’s why your heart feels such strong emotions when you find people with whom you have a strong connection and with whom you can create an authentic relationship – because then you understand how important you are.
But the more time you spend trying to force someone to love you when they don’t want to or are not able, the more you lose that connection.
The longer you stay trapped in the wrong relationships, the more you give your love to people who don’t need it and for whom you are just a secondary option, the more you keep yourself away from people who are right for you.
That doesn’t mean you miss out on important people. It means that the only thing sustaining that relationship was the energy you (and only you) put into it.
But that’s not true love. This is toxic attachment. It’s addiction.
The most precious and important thing you have in your life is your energy. Not only is your time limited, but your energy is limited. What you give yourself every day is what you will create more and more of in your life. What you give your time to is what will define your existence.
I want you to begin to realize that the most important thing you can do for your life, for yourself and for everyone you know is to protect your energy. Make your life a safe haven where only people who care about you, who love you, who respect you, who want to be in your life are allowed.
You are not responsible for saving other people. You are not responsible for convincing them that life is beautiful.
It is your duty to realize that you are the master of your destiny and that you accept only the love you believe you are worthy of. Decide that you deserve beautiful people in your life, that you deserve true relationships and that you deserve sincere love.
Then wait for a little time in the intuition… but only a little… and you’ll see how quickly things will change.
