Budget-friendly homemade cough syrup, according to an ancient recipe

With November, the cold, humid autumn weather has truly arrived, which also means the onset of colds and other illnesses. If you’d like to use a tried and tested homemade method to easily make your own cough syrup, now we’ve got a super simple recipe you can try today.

The autumn months bring with them not only beautiful yellow leaves and gorgeous autumn scenery, but unfortunately also illness. If you travel regularly on public transport, you’ll have noticed that more and more people are coughing and sneezing.

Instead of taking medicine from the pharmacy, you can try a variety of home remedies and miracle cures to boost your immune system. One of these is the ginger vitamin bomb, which, when consumed regularly, strengthens the body’s defenses.

If you do get a coughing cold, you can try the following onion and sugar cough suppressant. After all, onions are an excellent cure for coughs and colds.

What do you need?

  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 glass of water

How to make it?

Clean and slice the onion. Then add about a cup of granulated sugar. The key here is to make sure the sugar covers the onion slices completely.

Next, add half a glass of water to the sugared onion and heat up in a small saucepan.

Cook for 7 minutes, stirring constantly, until it becomes syrupy.

Store the homemade cough syrup in a tightly sealed glass jar for a few days after straining.

Check with your family doctor before trying this recipe.
