New films coming out in September 2022

Blonde

Starring: Ana de Armas, Lucy DeVito, Adrien Brody

Blonde is an American psychological drama film following the amazing life of the beautiful Marilyn Monroe. The film was written and directed by Andrew Dominik and stars Ana de Armas who brings the beloved actress to life. Actors such as Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel and Julianne Nicholson appear in supporting roles.

The majority of the film was shot in black and white, but there are parts where scenes will be in color. The production was not completed until July 2021, as the filming was delayed multiple times due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Blonde will premiere at the 79th Venice Film Festival on 8 September 2022.

Rainbow

Starring: Ester Expósito, Rossy de Palma, Hovik Keuchkerian

Rainbow is also on the list of new films coming out in September 2022. Rainbow is a film directed by Paco Leon and stars actors Dora Postigo, Ayax Pedrosa, Carmen Maura and Luis Bermejo. Rainbow was inspired by L. Frank Baum’s story The Wizard of Oz.

Filming locations included regions of Madrid, but also the provinces of Segovia, Guadalajara and Alicante. Filming finished in October 2021. The film will have its world premiere at the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival on 18 September 2022. It is expected in cinemas from 23 September 2022.

Hocus Pocus 2

Starring: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy

Hocus Pocus 2 is an American comedy, fantasy, and sometime horror film. The film is directed by Anne Fletcher. The production is a sequel to the famous 1993 film Hocus Pocus. It stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy and Doug Jones.

The sequel to Hocus Pocus has been confirmed as early as 2019, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed filming for the production. Filming did not wrap until January 2022. The film is expected to be presented on 30 September 2022.

The Woman King

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood
Starring: Viola Davis, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, John Boyega

The Woman King couldn’t miss from our list of new movies coming out in September 2022. The historical film follows the story of an all-female Agojie warrior unit, women who protected the African kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century. The kingdom flourished between the 18th and 19th centuries on the territory of what is now southern Benin.

Viola Davis stars as a general who trains the next generation of women warriors to fight the kingdom’s enemies. The production was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and written by Dana Stevens. The Woman King will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 9 September 2022. In the United States it is scheduled for release on 16 September 2022.

They have never met and are just about to marry someone else. Things change completely for them, however, when fate brings them to the same place. They both discover what true love is in a story full of comedy and romance. The film will premiere on 9 September 2022.
