Perhaps when cleaning the bathroom, most of us would opt for more powerful cleaning agents to ensure proper disinfection and deal with lime scale, soap scum, mold and other stubborn stains deposited in the toilet bowl and the bathtub, on the shower walls and the tiles. However, there exist many solutions that are gentler to the environment and still can clean with as much efficiency as strong chemicals.
Below is a list of seven environment-friendly and yet effective cleansers.
1. Black tea
Soak three black tea filters in a cup of water until the water becomes very dark. Pour the liquid in a spray bottle, spray it on the mirror, and then wipe the surface clean with newspaper.
2. Vinegar
Mix vinegar and water in half and half ratio, dip a sponge in the mixture and scrub down surfaces with traces of mold or soap scum. Leave the solution on for an hour, and then rinse.
3. Lemon
Metal structures become stained when water droplets dry on their surfaces. Cut a lemon in half and wipe down the metal surfaces to make them shiny again.
4. Apple cider vinegar
You may also soak a small kitchen towel into apple cider vinegar, wrap it around the tap, and leave it on for a few hours. Then just rinse the tap to have it all clean again.
5. Dishwasher
After a while, the cup used to keep toothbrushes in fills with water, lime scale and toothpaste residue. Just place the cup in the dishwasher, and it will come out squeaky clean.
6. Vinegar again
This natural but powerful solution dissolves lime scale deposited in the toilet bowl, and it disinfects when the water is flushed. The toilet seat can also be cleaned with vinegar.
7. Multi-Purpose Cleaner
True, this is not as environmentally friendly solution as the rest, but it can clean the toilet brush effectively. Just pour a small amount of cleaner into the brush holder.
