Unique Valentine’s Day programs that you can really surprise your partner with

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, but you still have no idea what to surprise your partner with? Of course, there are the classic options, such as baking a cake, watching a romantic movie together or having an intimate dinner.

However, if you would like to give them a more special gift this year that will really surprise them, you are not too late. There are quite a few options that can be great, creative gifts for Valentine’s Day even if you start preparing at the last minute, and they are personal enough to bring you even closer to each other.

1. Relive your first dates

Hopefully you can still remember exactly what your first date was like. If so, Valentine’s Day can be the perfect time to reminisce and even relive it together. Book a table at the same restaurant, eat the same food, watch the same movie, or whatever your first date was, and make it a new, great date. If you’re in the mood, you can also reminisce about what it was that caught your eye in the other person.

2. Make breakfast for sunrise

On Valentine’s Day, sunrise is still not too early, so how about throwing a delicious breakfast for your partner and yourself, and then gently wake them up and watch the sunrise together? You don’t even need to prepare a complicated meal: scrambled eggs enriched with vegetables with fresh toast, their favorite donuts, or, for example, oatmeal with fruit can be a great choice.

3. Visit the place where you grew up

If distance allows, it can be a great nostalgic date to show each other special places from your childhood that are important to you. This could be your old school, your favorite café, a dance hall, playground or lookout point that you used to go to, your grandmother’s house, or anything that brings back good memories. Or if you already know these places from your partner’s life, you can surprise them by heading there without saying a word.

4. Create a photo album

Making a photo album used to be a popular Valentine’s Day gift; these days, however, when most of us store even the photos closest to our hearts on our phones, it is becoming increasingly rare. Unfortunately, so are moments when we create something together. If you feel that such moments are missing from your lives as a couple, it’s a great idea to get a nice photo album, collect lots of photos of the two of you together, and then on Valentine’s Day, choose and paste the most memorable ones.

5. Visit a botanical garden

On Valentine’s Day, cinemas and restaurants are usually packed, which can often take away from the romantic, intimate atmosphere. But if you choose a less typical date spot, such as a botanical garden, you will likely find yourself in a much more relaxed environment. You can even choose some nice new house plants together, and whichever botanical garden you choose, you’re sure to have plenty of great photo opportunities.

6. Visit a farmers’ market

Both dining out and surprise meals prepared at home are undoubtedly the two most popular options on Valentine’s Day. While both have their own charm, what if you went on a date during the day, say, to a farmers’ market? There’s no shortage of heavenly treats there, and it’s also a great opportunity to surprise each other with an impromptu, handmade gift.

7. Make a time capsule

If you want a truly unforgettable surprise for Valentine’s Day, and you’re no longer in the early stages of your relationship, make a time capsule. Get a nice box and collect all sorts of important items, pictures, dates written on paper, or anything else that you feel means a lot to both of you. Then give the box to your partner, choose what to put inside together, then close it together, and agree on a time in the distant future when you can open the box together. Then it can be placed on top of a shelf in the attic, or you can even bury it in the ground to make it an even more atmospheric, truly romantic time capsule.
